Sports&Games, Arts&Crafts is a class that was offered in the Fall of 2005 on a limited basis and was such a success that it is now a permanent part of my schedule.
In the summertime I am a counselor at a camp in the North Woods of Wisconsin called Camp Deerhorn (www.campdeerhorn.com). For the past fourteen summers I have taught every activity Deerhorn has to offer. Sports&Games, Arts&Crafts brings my Camp Deerhorn experience to the heart of New York City.
The class is 90 minutes long and for the first hour we will play as many games as we can. Some of the games we will play may be classics that are familiar to most students. We will also incorporate some of my very own activities geared just for preschool aged students, encouraging lots of movement, running around, and of course a great time. Many classes often have a musical component to activities as well. Class ends with a 30 minute creative craft project for students to take home.
The main idea for SGAC is to get young children out into the beautiful outdoors of Central Park and run, play and have as much fun as possible. We will play new and creative games fit for young preschool aged children with the goal of keeping each child active and moving throughout the class. We take several short trips within Central Park to see new and fun places and use our imaginations. The class is an excellent way to start or finish off a day at school. When school lets out just come to the park, eat lunch and then jump right into SGAC.
This class is offered on several days and times throughout the week. The cost of the 8 week SGAC session is $450 payable by either cash or check.
